The Great Masician People's Federation is a multiethnic federation located along the northern Zanobian coast and extending into the Masician Desert. Its capital is Tamdint en Tagraoula. Governed by its state ideology of Epanastasis, Masicia officially operates as a direct democracy, its tricameral system defined by an executive committee presiding over its two constituent republics, a proletarian committee representing individual provinces, and an agrarian-tribal committee representing the nation's nomadic peoples and rural laborers. The GMPF enjoys broad military, economic and political support from the Union State, being close both ideologically and geopolitically.
History
The Masician People's Federation was established in 0053 R.C. in the aftermath of the Masician Revolution, which saw the overthrow of the Mestraic Eli dynasty's authority by the newly-formed Revolutionary People's Congress. The Revolution dissolved of the monarchist personal union of the Eli dynasty, the North Zanobian Union, and the distribution a wide range of political, social and economic rights to the common people. Adopting an egalitarian and secular form of governance, the RPC modeled its founding ideology of Epanastasis as a Pan-Zanobian approach to Zalesian Prostasism.
The Revolution ultimately led to the prolonged and brutal North Zanobian War (0056-0064 R.C.) in which the Coalition-backed Mestraim invaded Masicia with the aim of restoring the North Zanobian Union. Quickly the conflict degraded into a total standstill, ruthless trench and chemical warfare becoming a staple of the conflict. The conflict would escalate in 0064 R.C. with Operation Atooui-99, which saw a broad offensive conducted by the Royal Mestraic Armed Forces with the intent of breaking the stalemate and crippling the Masician military. Facing the liberal use of tactical nuclear weapons and chemical-biological warfare on the battlefield, the Masician military held long enough for Union State intervention to take place. The ensuing Nine Day War (1 Aug-10 Aug 0064 R.C.) saw Ni-Venipi Island seized by the Union State Terrestrial Forces, as well as a variety of space-based strikes against the Royal Mestraic Army ultimately causing a retreat. The Ceasefire at Ni Gol (11 Sept 0064 R.C.) marked a tenuous restoration of antebellum borders, though a Mestraic refusal to recognize the new Masician government persisted.
While Masicia failed to defeat Mestraim and export its ideology of Epanastasis, its victory nonetheless allowed the Revolutionary People's Congress to utterly consolidate power and advance its aims regarding the country's development. 'Great' was added to the country's official title following the war, as the RPC underwent a patriotic campaign aiming to mobilize the populace towards the construction of a new capital. Relocating its administrative functions inland away from the historical capital of Kirta, the city of Tamdint en Tagraoula was completed in 0071 R.C., boasting a wide array of defenses and being built into the mountains. The GMPF extended its territorial claims to span the Volscian overseas territories of Atlassia and Gran Ea in 0073 R.C., positioning itself explicitly against the Coalition. Guided by its Pan-Zanobian ideals and aiming to unite the continent under a common ideology — mirroring the footsteps of the Asterian Union State — the Great Masician People's Federation quickly expanded its sphere of influence to include various like-minded states, and challenged defiant neighbors, such as the Kingdom of Amurack. The ensuing skirmishes between Masicia and Amurack, starting from 0075 R.C. onward, transformed the contested region of desert between the two countries into what is now called the Sea of Glass.
The construction of the Seven Fists of God supergun network in the 0090s R.C. marked the beginning of the GMPF more directly acting upon its military and political ambitions. Today, the GMPF continues striving to ideologically unify the Zanobian continent, spurred on by ever more worrisome fears of resource scarcity. Its ambitions remain challenged by its immediate neighbors, such as Amurack and Mestraim.
